Dear SBE members,
Despite all the turmoil in the world, the SBE will meet as usual to discuss business ethics in Philadelphia! Our submission numbers were strong-- more even than Boston in 2023. A few things to remember this year:
Schedule: Don't forget we are starting a day early and ending a day early. The initial 'international' reception (for all) will be Wednesday night, the plenary address will be noon Thursday, the business meeting and SIMs joint keynote will be Friday, and the final reception will be Saturday night. July 29-August 1. Don't get there a day late!
Registration: Early bird registration will be open until May 31.You will hopefully get confirmation response from reviewers by early May.
Tables/Booths: If you wish to have a table/booth at the conference feel free to reach out to me anytime.
Sponsorships: If you would like to be a sponsor of the conference we welcome sponsorships from educational institutions (no corporate sponsorships, sorry). Last year we had a stellar lineup of generous sponsors, and we are grateful for that support. We highlight you in the online and paper program. Feel free to reach out to myself, or Miguel Alzola.
See you in Philadelphia in 3 months!
Gratefully,

2026 Conference in Philadelphia
Note from the Program Chair
Dear Society for Business Ethics Members and Friends,
Please join us on July 29 – August 1, 2026, for the Society for Business Ethics Annual Meeting! We will gather in-person at the Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square later this summer and we hope to see you there.
This year we are trying something a little bit different. Rather than the traditional Thursday–Sunday format, we are adopting a Wednesday–Saturday schedule. This means we will kick off with our pre-conference events, including the Teaching Ethics Workshop and International Reception, on Wednesday, July 29. Our Conference Welcome and Opening Plenary will take place in the early afternoon on Thursday, July 30, and the SBE-SIM Joint Keynote is scheduled for Friday, July 31. We are doing this in the hope that it will make it possible for more scholars to attend both SBE and AOM, so please spread the word!
Thank you to all who submitted papers for this year’s conference. Decision letters started going out this week and will likely continue into mid-May, so please do not worry if you have not yet heard back. As you may know, this year we extended the submission deadline by one month to February 28. As a result, we are still waiting for some peer reviews before we can release all decision notices and a draft schedule. We are grateful for your patience.
A very special thank you to everyone who has completed their reviews, and an extra shoutout to those who took on emergency reviews. The job of program chair would be impossible without you. If you still need to complete your assigned reviews, please respond to your reviewer invitations and complete your reviews at your earliest convenience. Scholars are waiting for decisions so they can secure institutional funding to attend SBE.
Lastly, don’t forget to register for the conference and make your hotel reservations! Early-bird pricing expires at the end of this month, so take advantage of this reminder to register as soon as possible!
With warmest regards,
Rosemarie Monge (University of St. Thomas, MN)

Message from SBE President and Fundraising Chair
Dear Colleagues,
I am thrilled to invite you to our 2026 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA, from July 29 to August 1. The program is shaping up to be outstanding, and Philadelphia will bring together scholars from across the globe to present new work, debate ideas, and build the collaborations that define our field. In a time marked by deep uncertainty about the role of business in public life, about the future of democratic institutions, and about the responsibilities of those who study and teach these questions, the value of gathering (in person and online) to think together is difficult to overstate. I look forward to seeing many of you there.
I also want to take this opportunity to say a word about sponsorship. As you know, the Society does not accept corporate sponsorship. This policy reflects our values, and it means that we depend on academic centers, non-profit organizations, and individual members to fund the programs that bring our community together. Sponsorship funds allow young scholars from developing countries to attend the conference; last year, they enabled two scholars from Latin America to participate for the first time, and the year before, two scholars from Africa. These funds also support doctoral students and junior faculty who cannot cover travel and registration costs on their own. They sustain our dedicated doctoral program, which waives registration fees, pairs selected students with senior mentors, and hosts an exclusive dinner. And they make possible the keynote lectures, welcome receptions, and practical infrastructure that a global gathering of this kind requires.
If your center or institution is in a position to sponsor the 2026 Annual Meeting, or if you would like to contribute individually, I would be grateful to hear from you. Please reach out to me at alzola@fordham.edu. Sponsors will be recognized on the Society's website, on our social media platforms, and in the printed conference program.
Thank you, as always, for your commitment to this community.

Our annual conference is where business ethics scholars and professionals come together to share new research, explore the latest developments in teaching and practice, discuss emerging issues, and enjoy genuine fellowship across disciplines and industries.
Future Locations (tentative):
The Society for Business Ethics has traditionally held our conference just prior to the AOM conference. Assuming that the SBE continues that tradition, our upcoming meetings will be at the following locations:
- Seattle, Washington (USA) • 2027
- Toronto, Ontario (Canada) • 2028
These locations are tentative and subject to change based on venue availability and partner schedules.

Templeton Grant Awarded to Business, Faith and Common Good Institute
The John Templeton Foundation has awarded a $1.2 million dollar grant to the Business, Faith and Common Good Institute at Creighton University to provide free teaching resources about practicing business in a way which puts people first for professors and students (as well as business entrepreneurs and others in business). Eventually 800 video snippets (1-4 minutes) of interviews with Economy of Communion entrepreneurs will be made available on a website, along with in class questions and other resources. The mini-website with initial snippets is available now at economyofcommunion.org
The project welcomes collaboration from any researcher who believes business can be a tool which transform culture and society for the good. Contact Matthew Smith with any questions.
