The Raymond and Eleanor Smiley Chair in Business Ethics at John Carroll University

“The Boler School’s core strength is developing outstanding leaders who have confidence, integrity and a global vision. This is accomplished within a rigorous and challenging learning environment. One of the distinguishing characteristics of the Boler School is the sense of community between students and faculty, and the alumni base in the business community is exceptionally strong and very supportive of the University.

The Chair holder will teach management and leadership courses with a focus on business ethics at the undergraduate and graduate levels and bring together accomplished business and not-for-profit professionals, faculty and students to engage in conversations related to business and ethics. In addition, the Chair holder will organize conferences and symposia to assist business leaders, students and faculty gain special insight into the challenges of ethical and moral leadership in today’s business world. He or she will be an active scholar and a participant in international business ethics organizations. The Chair holder’s teaching and research should help elevate John Carroll University’s Boler School of Business to be known as a scholarly center of excellence in the United States, and would be expected to inspire John Carroll students to think very differently about the future of business and how to resolve ethical, moral and social problems and challenges that cut across international and cultural boundaries.”
