Prof. Dr. Andreas Georg Scherer Named Doctor honoris causa (Dr. h.c.) of the University of Hamburg (Germany)

Prof. Dr. Andreas Georg Scherer, Chair of Foundations of Business Administration and Theories of the Firm of the University of Zurich (Switzerland), has been awarded an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Hamburg (Germany). This mark of distinction acknowledges Prof. Dr. Scherer’s career and contributions to research in the fields of business and social sciences, in particular to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability.

The award ceremony took place on Thursday, December 3rd, 2020 in the presence of Prof. Dr. Jetta Frost, Vice-president of the University of Hamburg, Prof. Dr. Cord Jakobeit, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences, as well as Prof. Dr. Dirk Ulrich Gilbert and Prof. Dr. Kerstin Lopatta from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences. The presentations and discussions were moderated by Prof. Dr. Timo Busch from the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences.

“He is among the internationally leading scholars in the fields of research on Management and Organizations, Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics and has made path breaking contributions to globalization issues and the political role of the corporation”, declared Prof. Gilbert, emphasizing the impact that Andreas Scherer has had in the fields of Organizational Research and CSR.
