2020 SBE Conference to be Held Virtually

Published on

Dear SBE Members and Friends,

In light of the Academy of Management’s cancellation of their own Vancouver conference, the health and logistical risks posed by the ongoing pandemic, and the restrictions on international travel to Vancouver currently mandated by British Columbia’s Provincial Health Officer, SBE has opted to cancel our own in-person event, and transition our 2020 program online.

We have been in touch with the Sutton Place Hotel over the past few days, and they have cancelled the hotel reservations made in SBE’s room block. Several of you have received communication from them about that already. I apologize for the awkward timing of the communications that some of you have received, and thank you for your patience as SBE has waited to confirm our arrangements before making this announcement.

SBE is currently working to ascertain how best to deliver our 2020 program. Upcoming communications will include details about the program’s dates, times, format, registration fees, and registration arrangements; separate communications will be forthcoming regarding partial or total refunds of any registration fees, luncheon tickets, or carbon offsets already purchased (or donated) through Cambridge Core. Separate communications will also be forthcoming about program acceptance and rejection decisions. I anticipate having that information out within the next few weeks.

Thank you for your engagement with SBE during this extraordinary time. I am excited to be able to hold our first-ever virtual conference . . . to see and hear many of you online in August . . . and to do our part to keep people talking about business ethics!

Best Regards,

Dr. Jason M. Stansbury
