Postdoc Position in Business Ethics at Creighton University

Published on

Creighton University’s Heider College of Business seeks applications for a postdoc position to teach Business Ethics for the 2020-21 academic year. As part of its mission to provide high quality business ethics teaching to all undergraduate and graduate students, as well as our desire to help philosophers become skilled business ethicists, we are seeking a new or recent philosophy PH.D. who wishes to teach business ethics for the postdoc fellowship.

Our Postdoc Fellowship will provide valuable faculty mentoring and experience essential to becoming successful university-level teachers of business ethics. This is not a position which may turn into a full-time position at Creighton. However, with one prep Fall and Spring, it provides a great opportunity to hone your business ethics skills in an excellent diverse business school while also working on publications. Given that part of the purpose of the postdoc is to help you develop business ethics skills, no particular experience teaching business ethics previously is required, although the teaching load certainly requires strong competence in ethics.

The Business Ethics Postdoc Fellowship carries a 2/3/1 load each year, with the successful candidate teaching 2 sections of our undergraduate business ethics course in the fall, 3 sections of the same undergraduate course in the spring, and one 8-week MBA business ethics course in the summer. Postdoc fellows will work alongside Creighton’s business ethics faculty as they develop their teaching practices. There are no publication requirements, but every effort will be made by the Heider faculty to support scholarship projects and collaborate where appropriate. While our goal is to help postdoc fellows to achieve tenure track positions where available, the fellowship is renewable for up to three years. Provided the postdoc fellow is successful in teaching here at Creighton, the postdoc position may be maintained for up to (and only) 3 years.

Heider College of Business is a collegial environment with over 75 full time business faculty, over 1,250 business students, and a strong regional reputation and relationship with the Omaha business community. Our undergraduate and graduate programs are ranked highly, and Omaha, home to Warren Buffet and 4 Fortune 500 companies, has a low cost of living and high livability rating.

Omaha is a growing and thriving metropolitan area of around 850,000 people. Omaha is also home to one of the nation’s strongest economies, affordable housing, award winning schools, and a vibrant arts community. Find more information at https://www.omahachamber.org/the-region
